Our story – Glory and Grace Silks

In 2015, I began painting silk as a means to help make some money for my military family.  What I didn’t realize at the time was that painting would become a healing therapy for me.  I had struggled with a life-long disorder called Severe Chronic Neutropenia, and after an illness which hospitalized me, and a whole lot of prayers, I realized what I needed to do.  I’ve been designing and hand dyeing silk ever since.

This past year, I was diagnosed with a tremor disorder, and while it sometimes restricts my ability to make straight lines in my designs, I will not let it take away the joy of painting.  I shall PAINT ON!  Designing and dyeing beautiful scarves is more healing than I ever imagined, and I want to continue to share my gift

of art for the world to see for many years to come.

One of my favorite things to do is teach others to water-marble on silk.  I like to travel to different craft shows in the area and,  when I set up the water-marbling table, it’s always great fun!

Bottom line is, I love, love, love what I do and am so blessed to be able to share it.  I wanted a way to give-back and decided to launch something called, “A Scarf with a Purpose”.  For every 9 scarves I sell, I will design and donate one with an inspirational message on it to a hematology/oncology clinic in Hampton Roads.  It’s just a little way for me to show some love back to the community.
